Sad SAd Sad How in the hell can anybody with an ounce of sanity claim AA is not religious? I just dont understand how otherwise intelligent people can be so duped. Or is it that a certain class of people should be thrown away according to these judges? Are the judges AA brainwashed themselves? ARRRG!!!

That judge is nuts. He is ignoring obvious facts and several precedent-setting Federal Appeals Court decisions. He claims that there is "no evidence" that A.A. is a religion? Talk about being in denial. He may well be a hidden member of A.A. himself. This is a case that needs to be appealed.

I have attended a 12 step fellowship for 28+ years. I do not believe in God from a book or any religious organization. God as I understand is a positive energy flow that is creative by/in nature. Addiction is a negative energy flow that is destructive by/in nature. The 12 step groups are not closed to outside influences and membership is totally voluntary therefore it is not a cult. You do not get hunted down or punished if you leave. Love is sent to you that you do recover. I have known the 12 step fellowships to have saved hundreds of lives... Other forms of recovery tend to be subsidized by BIG PHARMA... to keep you trapped in a drug to live.... sad...

Why do you hate 12 step recovery?

I agree. My closest friend in AA was raised mormon but considers herself kind of a "Buddhist Witch". I was raised Catholic but adhere to no formal religion and am more of an agnostic. I really have no idea and don't care what my AA friends believe. Very few follow a formal religion and their beliefs in AA are their own. Whatever.

AA is a confusing cult religion loaded with contradictions. A success rate of 3% not even verifiable with a horrible retention rate. Caters mostly to the mentally ill.
